Huka Falls to Aratiatia Rapids Walkway
Beginning at the powerful Huka Falls, this picturesque walkway follows the Waikato River all the way to the Aratiatia hydro dam and rapids.
Walkers are treated to spectacular views of the river and its magnificent water features, both from the track and from viewing platforms at each end. There are toilet facilities and picnic areas available, and the walkway links with other tracks for those who want to explore further.
The walkway can be accessed from Huka Falls, at its southern end, or from the Aratiatia hydro dam, at its northern end. Huka Falls can be found at the end of Huka Falls Road, 1.6km north of Taupo, off State Highway 1. The Aratiatia hydro dam is located on Aratiatia Road, north of Taupo, off State Highway 5.
