NAVIGATING THE MAP
To move around the map there are a number of zoom and pan methods that are available.
Zoom In/ Zoom Out Buttons
- Click on the + button to zoom in the map
- Click on the - button to zoom out of the map
On the Mouse or Track Pad - Zoom In/Out
To Zoom in, hold Shift and left click and drag a rectangle over the map. The map will zoom to area of the rectangle.
Hold Shift, Ctrl and left click and drag a rectangle over the map. The map will zoom to area of the rectangle.
You can pan the map using the mouse/trackpad in any direction in the map.
On the map click and hold the left mouse button , drag the cursor in any direction, the map will pan in the direction you have dragged the cursor.
Previous and Next Extent
Following any zoom or pan action you can use the Previous Extent button to revert back to your previous view on the map. This is handy if you get 'lost' on the map or zoom to the wrong area. Use the Next Extent button to switch back to your initial map view.
Clicking the Home button will take you back to a view showing the whole of New Zealand.
Activating the Geolocate button will load a map view of your physical location. Your browser may first ask permission for wams.org.nz to access the location information of your device. To disable Geolocate click the button once again.
